Database Developer Apprentice
Since 1979, we have been committed to serving the "least of these" in Asia and Africa, often in places where no one else is serving, so they can experience the love of God for the first time. GFA supports national workers serving as the hands and feet of Christ in four main ways. Sponsoring national missionaries to minister to people's needs, sponsoring children, investing in community development and helping families in need of care or during disasters. We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented database developer apprentice who can design, develop, test, and maintain databases to meet the needs of our organization. The ideal candidate will have experience with database management systems, data modeling, and SQL programming. You will work closely with our information technology team to ensure seamless integration of databases with our applications. There will also be opportunities for full-time employment based on performance and completion of the apprenticeship program. Responsibilities include: Adding new functionality into GFA's donor database solution Tuning and optimizing database programs and data structures Data or execution problem analysis and debugging Transforming, summarizing, and deriving data Database program unit testing and code review Adhering to GFA code management, documentation, and deployment procedures Designing appropriate database structures for new or extended functionality Requirements: US citizenship required Single and 18+ required Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field Database administration training or experience Nice to have: Certification in database administration or related field (e.g., Oracle certified professional) Complex query and procedural SQL development for relational databases (Microsoft SQL Server experience preferred) What we offer: Fully furnished housing Utilities High-speed internet Monthly stipend for personal expenses Opportunity to work on challenging projects and contribute to the growth of our ministry Paid time off and holidays
