Job DescriptionInventory Technician 1 positions support various departments across Wayne County by managing inventory operations to ensure efficient and cost-effective supply management. In the Department of Public Services, the Inventory Technician 1 is responsible for receiving, storing, inspecting, and issuing materials, equipment, and other items. They work closely with IPPM supervision to maintain efficient inventory control. In the Wayne County Sheriff's Office, the Inventory Technician 1 maintains accurate inventory records and is responsible for ordering, stocking, and issuing supplies, equipment, and other essential items. At the Wayne County Juvenile Detention Facility, the Inventory Technician 1 handles the ordering, stocking, and issuing of materials, equipment, and supplies necessary for daily operations.ResponsibilitiesRequired TasksKeep stock in order and clean storerooms.Review stock items as candidates for obsolescence and deletion from inventory with Storekeepers and customer agencies.Check supplies received against invoices.Pack and unpack items to be stocked on shelves in stockrooms, warehouses, or storage yards.Receive and count stock items and record data manually or using computer.Mark stock items using identification tags, stamps, electric marking tools, or other labeling equipment.Verify inventory computations by comparing them to physical counts of stock and investigate discrepancies or adjust errors.Issue or distribute materials, products, parts and supplies to customers or coworkers, based on information from incoming requisitions.Provide assistance or direction to other stockroom, warehouse, or storage yard workers.Keep records on the use of stock or stock handling equipment.Keep records of damaged stock or stock handling equipment.Operate machinery, hand tools, telephone, desktop computer, electronic devices, and printer.Perform other related duties as assigned.QualificationsExperience/Educational RequirementsHigh school diploma or G.E.D.Valid MI Driver's License
