Classification specifications are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed by employees in the class. Specifications are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job.

Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, assist in the transportation of students to and from school and activities; assist drivers in the loading, unloading, securing and monitoring of students; provide behavior support and guidance to the students while being transported; operate a district vehicle (up to a nine passenger vehicle) for the purposes of providing safe and secure transportation for students. THE CANDIDATE

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination of education, training and/or experience equivalent to graduation from high school (or equivalent) and six months of experience working with children and/or young adolescence. Alternatively, individuals currently enrolled in or who have completed VUSD's Bus Driver Training Program will be considered to have met the experience requirement.

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Possession of a valid California Driver's License Possess and maintain a safe driving record (DMV H-6). Valid NCPI (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention) training and certification; employees must fulfill certification requirements within the first six (6) months of the probationary period. Valid First Aid and CPR certifications; employees must fulfill certification requirements within the first three (3) months of the probationary period. THE DETAILS

TESTING INFORMATION: The examination process may be comprised of multiple choice exam, performance assessment, computer skills exam, or any combination of assessment appropriate to determine technical ability to perform the duties listed in the

Applicants meeting the minimum qualifications for the position will be emailed an examination pass. A photo ID and the examination pass are required for admittance to the exam.

Step 1: Application Screening

(pass/fail) Applicant's will be screened on an as-needed basis as vacancies arrive. Applications will be evaluated and ranked according to criteria that most closely meets the needs of the department, so it is essential that applicants provide as much detail as possible and answer all parts of the application. If there is a high number of qualified applicants, a comparative screening will be conducted to determine which of the applicants will be selected for invitation to the written examination.

Upon qualifying, applicants will be notified by email the procedures to schedule their written examination. Examination notifications will not be sent until after the closing date for the position. A photo ID is required for admittance to the exam.

ADDITIONAL SALARY INFORMATION:

New Hires - Initial Salary Placement The District has established criteria in place that recognizes the education and experience new employees bring to their role in supporting students and the services of the District. Upon approval of the Director of Classified Human Resources, a new employee may be provided with advanced step placement up to Step 5 based on the following criteria:

Additional qualifying experience beyond that required for entry into the class (limited to no more than one step for each two years of experience related to the classification) Additional education at the college level beyond the educational requirements established for entry into the class (limited to no more than one step for each two years of education related to the position) To be considered for advanced salary placement upon hire transcripts and/or diploma must be provided All new hires placed at Step 1 of the salary schedule will advance to Step 2 after successfully completing the six-month probationary period.

Longevity increments are offered based on years of service with the District: an additional 1.20% of base salary after completing 4 years of service, 4.10% at 9 years, 7.08% at 14 years, 10.15% at 19 years, 13.31% at 24 years, 16.46% at 29 years.

Promotional and/or transfer candidates

will be placed at the appropriate step in accordance with established Personnel Commission Rules & Regulations.

Education Incentives All active, regular classified employees are eligible for an education incentive if they possess a college degree , regardless of when degree was earned, for degrees above and beyond the stated minimum qualifications in their current classification. Courses must be taken at an accredited college or university and proof of degree must be submitted to HR.

Approximately 14 paid holidays per year.

VACATION

Vacation is earned based on assigned hours. (For example: a new employee working 8 hours/day, 12-months per year will earn one vacation day per month, up to a total of twelve (12) days of vacation per year. Employees who work less than 12-months per year or less than 8 hours/day shall be entitled to a prorated share of vacation benefits as outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.) Vacation earned increases with years of service with the district.

SICK LEAVE

The district provides for 1 day of illness leave per month worked, with unlimited accumulation for unused days.
