Position Summary

Position provides day-to-day management of the training team that support designated Epic applications, modules and third-party applications. Oversees the team that performs training and support for the Epic and third-party applications supporting Kootenai Health, our affiliates, and downstream customers. Works in close collaboration with the clinicians including physicians, informatics and analyst to implement, train and guide the use of technology to ensure optimal care delivery processes and effectively communicate patient care activity. Responsible for leading, mentoring and maintaining the technical competency of staff. Responsible for managing a departmental budget and expenditures within that budget.

Responsibilities •Responsible for ensuring the delivery of ongoing Epic and digital systems training programs •Accountable for building a progressive learning environment, team and infrastructure to provide ongoing education spanning implementation, activation, optimization and ongoing operations •Oversees the development and maintenance of education course catalogs and course schedules •Coordinates the identification and build out of training spaces, including digital, needed to support the plan (including rooms and technical infrastructure) •Provides direction, feedback and coaching, as well as formal feedback to staff during routine one-on-one meetings and the annual performance management cycle •Mentors and develops other team members through coaching and influence rather than through direct supervision •Responsible for staffing the assigned team •Builds annual goals for staff members, monitors performance against those goals, including action plans from the annual employee engagement survey •Along with the Contract Management and Procurement teams, manages the performance of a designated group of vendors, including monitoring identified service levels and achievement of contract deliverables •Maintains relationships with key business partners and other senior leaders, as well as key contacts in the health care IT industry in order to leverage best practices, and to evaluate and manage emerging technologies •Monitors and manages work assignments for an identified group of individuals; organizes and prioritizes tasks, tickets and deliverables •Leads communication efforts related to education efforts for deployments, upgrades, optimizations and other system changes. •Partners with quality, operational, and business leaders on training design and optimization to meet quality, safety, financial and efficiency needs •Leads Incident Management and Problem Management efforts •Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals •Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function •Performs other related duties as assigned •Competent to meet age-specific needs of the unit assigned

Requirements and Minimum Qualifications •Bachelor's degree in Education, Computer Science, Business Management, Information Services, or an equivalent combination of education, skills and relevant experience required •Minimum 3 years of Information Services leadership experience and 5 years total relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, skills and relevant experience required •Epic certification(s) or proficiency in domain are not required but would be considered a benefit •Practical experience with electronic health information systems including configuration, implementation, support and optimization in an ambulatory or hospital setting required •Experience with designing and delivering training and education in the technology space •Established track record of successful, collaborative work with physicians and clinical leadership •Advanced understanding of the standard tools, workflow processes, and/or procedures and concepts used in the development and deployment of application software necessary to run the healthcare systems business, clinical or financial systems
