This is a Public Service Commission (PSC or Commission) recruitment for a full-time in-office Administrative Specialist/Intake Specialist I in the Consumer Affairs Division (CAD). The Commission regulates Maryland utilities, including gas, electric, and telephone carriers, as well as for-profit water and sewage disposal companies. The Commission also has the authority to license gas and electric suppliers, adopt complaint procedures, and establish consumer protection standards regarding supplier services.

CAD is the Commission's dispute resolution office that answers utility customer questions and investigates utility service complaints.

POSITION DUTIES

To serve as the primary point of contact for citizens seeking CAD's assistance concerning any gas, electric, telecommunication, water utilities, or competitive suppliers licensed by the Public Service Commission (Commission) to operate within the State of Maryland. To accurately collect and enter data in the Consumer Affairs Division's (CAD) database to inform departmental decision-making. To assist the Lead Investigator in ensuring enforcement and compliance with PSC law, state laws where applicable, COMAR, Commission-approved tariffs, and Commission Orders and decisions by providing Lead Investigator with all necessary case information, documents, and customer or company follow up communications in a timely manner.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Six months of experience performing administrative staff, clerical, clerical technical, or secretarial work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

At least one year of experience working with the public in a customer service capacity or other public-facing role

Prior experience working with the Consumer Affairs Division of the Maryland Public Service Commission

Experience working with Salesforce. If not Salesforce, then experience working with another customer relationship/complaint/case management software or application (ie: Zendesk, ClientTrack, Silvertrac, etc.)

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
