The Hanover Technology team is currently seeking a Senior Technical Product Owner to join our growing team in a hybrid or remote work arrangement.
This is a full time, exempt role.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Senior Technical Product Owner is a strategic partner in defining and delivering technology products. Collaborate with enterprise and business architecture to develop capability maps, roadmaps, and development plans.
Prioritize project and operational requests through standardized processes. Address IT and security risks, align objectives with policies and standards, and establish KPIs or OKRs for compliance. Mentor junior team members and contribute to strategic planning.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:
Vision & Strategy
Define and communicate a long-term vision for technical products aligned with business goals, user needs, and emerging technology trends. Shape strategic product capabilities and ensure alignment with enterprise architecture and scalability goals. Collaborate with Product Managers and Value Stream Owners to create and update capability maps and roadmaps that anticipate future needs and guide investment decisions. Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
Lead strategic alignment sessions with operational and executive stakeholders to connect product goals to KPIs/OKRs. Act as primary liaison between business and technical teams-facilitating agile ceremonies, feedback loops, demos, and performance reviews. Deliver clear, data-driven updates on product progress, experience outcomes, and ROI to senior leadership. Partner with legal, compliance, and operational leaders to design solutions that meet regulatory standards and organizational objectives. Agile Product Delivery
Own and prioritize the product backlog to maximize customer and business value. Guide agile teams in developing Epics, Features, and User Stories with clearly defined acceptance criteria. Promote agile principles and continuous improvement practices across teams and stakeholders. Balance strategic initiatives and operational demands using structured prioritization frameworks. Monitor and report on product performance, fulfillment of KPIs/OKRs, and alignment with company standards. Experience-Driven Innovation
Apply user research, analytics, and journey mapping to identify opportunities and guide experience-driven product design. Collaborate with UX, engineering, compliance, and data partners to deliver secure, intuitive, and future-ready digital solutions. Promote experimentation and iterative development to accelerate innovation across business and technology stakeholders. Stay attuned to evolving customer needs, industry trends, and opportunities for business and technical transformation. Proactively propose innovative solutions based on deep understanding of business operations, user journeys, and technology capabilities. Technical & Cross-Functional Leadership
Maintain a high-level understanding of IT architecture to assess implications of product decisions. Analyze business requirements and translate them into actionable specifications and user stories. Mentor junior product team members and support onboarding and capability-building initiatives. Ensure team alignment with organizational policies, standards, and development frameworks. WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY:
Bachelor's Degree preferred (in Business, Insurance, Finance, or Technology-related discipline). 5-7 years of relevant work experience Understanding of systems architecture and business processes in Insurance preferred. Proficiency in Office 365, MS Azure, and Agile Collaboration tools. Strong grasp of systems architecture, APIs, cloud-native services, and back/front-end integration. Forward-thinker who proactively identifies risks and opportunities. Skilled at synthesizing information and driving consensus. Exceptional communicator who can translate technical detail into business impact. Influence without authority across senior leadership and delivery teams. Proven ability to navigate matrixed environments, resolve conflicts, and unify stakeholders around a shared vision. Strong organizational and planning abilities with a bias for action and outcomes. Able to develop tactical plans from strategic direction. Ability to translate ambiguous business needs into actionable product strategies with strong ROI. Executive presence with superb communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences. Track record of leading without authority in complex, matrixed environments. Visionary mindset with the ability to balance short-term delivery with long-term transformation. Experience in setting product governance frameworks, prioritization models, and digital operating rhythms. Experience mentoring junior team members. Familiarity with Agile frameworks such as Scrum or Kanban. Must be eligible to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future (ie.
