Patient Transport - Access Center Registered Nurse
The Access Center Nurse coordinates, facilitates, and communicates as a representative of the Access Center to promote optimal patient care and support the mission of Children's Health. Ensures efficient patient flow, system level bed management, communication, and excellent customer service to referral hospitals that are contacting Children's Health for patient transfers and transport team requests. The Access Center Nurses serve as liaisons and resources for all Access Center staff, community hospitals, and clinical units/services across the healthcare enterprise. Responsibilities include providing oversight for all clinical escalations, system level bed management, facilitating daily shift huddles, escalating capacity constraints, triaging referrals, following policies for patient referrals, anticipating care issues, coordinating transport team configurations, completing rapid assessments, authoring and distributing reports, tracking referral delays, monitoring bed capacity, assisting with conflict resolution, promoting education, auditing intake calls, reviewing Safelink reports, and facilitating team huddles. To be successful, you will need at least two years of nursing experience in critical care or the emergency department, a four-year bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in nursing, FEMA ICS 100 and 200 certifications, a current license to practice professional nursing in the state of Texas, Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification, Certified Flight Communicator certification, and licensure/certification as a paramedic or EMT preferred.
