The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Virginia seeks candidates for a tenure-ineligible Assistant Professor position. This primary inpatient position will emphasize management of patients following Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) during the acute/rehabilitation, subacute, and chronic phases of care. The position includes leadership of the Joint Commission-certified SCI Rehabilitation Program at UVA Encompass Health Joint Venture Rehabilitation Hospital (UVA-EH), including year-round supervision of a resident physician. The position also includes leadership of an outpatient SCI Care Coordination Program, including oversight of a dedicated Nurse Practitioner and RN Care Coordinator. There will also be opportunities for outpatient spasticity management procedures, including guided chemodeneration and intrathecal baclofen pump management procedures. Inpatient and outpatient care sites are adjacent to one another. The candidate will also provide night and weekend call coverage UVA-EH on a rotational basis. The position will remain open till filled. The University will perform background checks on all new hires prior to employment. A completed pre-employment health screen is required for this position prior to employment. Qualifications: A MD or DO is required, as is board-certification or board-eligibility by the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. The incumbent must be committed to a career in academic medicine and interested in combining clinical practice with resident education and/or research.
