The Portfolio Solutions Group (PSG) manages ~$35bn in custom multi-asset portfolios on behalf of institutions and individual investors worldwide. PSG specializes in the discretionary management of portfolios allocating across traditional and alternative asset classes, including the use of open architecture implementation via third-party strategies. PSG is comprised of 48 team members, including 29 investment professionals globally, and is organized into five disciplines: Capital Markets, Investment Selection, Quantitative Research and Portfolio Management, Client Engagement, and Investment Support. Job Responsibilities
Design investment solutions to be deployed in both retail and institutional markets. Conduct quantitative analysis to assess investment opportunity sets and key risks for various investment strategies for possible inclusion into portfolio. Perform multi-asset portfolio analysis for prospects and provide investment recommendations that enhance portfolio characteristics. Analyze current and prospect portfolios. Help to formulate client pitches and provide support for onboarding new client portfolios. Project manage various projects simultaneously. Candidate Qualities
Bachelor's degree or higher in a quantitative field with a preference for mathematics, statistics, computer science, or financial engineering. Proficiency in coding (Python preferred). Resourceful, self-motivated individual with intellectual curiosity able to demonstrate creative approach to problem solving, and strong work ethic are necessary requirements for success in the position. Strong attention to detail, follow up, and overseeing projects through completion. Must be able to produce high-quality work independently and excel in a team environment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
