Associate / Senior Associate - Quantitative Research Team

We are seeking an Associate / Senior Associate to join our Quantitative Research team within the Portfolio Solutions Group. This role offers a high-impact, early-career opportunity to engage in asset allocation research, portfolio construction, and the development of customized investment solutions. You will be part of a specialized team dedicated to designing and managing globally diversified portfolios across both public and private markets. Key Responsibilities: Develop tailored investment strategies for institutional clients with complex objectives and constraints, including pension funds, endowments, foundations, financial institutions, and ultra-high-net-worth individuals. Conduct in-depth quantitative research on asset allocation, portfolio construction, and investment selection. Provide investment recommendations to enhance portfolio characteristics for both existing and prospective clients. Support the creation and maintenance of proprietary analytical tools, including capital market assumptions and factor models. Assist in formulating client pitches and support the onboarding process for new client portfolios. Efficiently manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and successful completion. Candidate Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative discipline such as Financial Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or a related field. 13+ years of experience in a quantitative investment, strategy, or risk role, preferably within a buy-side firm. Proficient in programming, with a preference for Python; experience with MATLAB is a plus. Strong understanding of portfolio theory, asset allocation concepts, and macroeconomic indicators is a plus. Resourceful and self-motivated with a strong intellectual curiosity. Attention to details, with the ability to follow through and oversee projects to completion. Capable of producing high-quality work independently while thriving in a collaborative team environment. Able to work effectively under time-sensitive constraints. Adept at identifying problems and developing solutions. Expected base pay rates for the role will be $110,000 - $150,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
