Payroll Accountant

The Payroll Department is seeking Payroll Accountants to be an integral part of the complex day-to-day operations. Incumbent is responsible for performing all functions associated with the processing of the designated payroll, programmatic date setup and adhering to all federal and state requirements. Support automated time keeping system to include: accuracy of employee records and time, train employee and supervisors, test and validate upgrades. Uploading of time and leave records. Additionally, the Payroll Accountant is responsible for downloading payroll general ledger files; identifying errors and creating the necessary journal entries to resolve discrepancies within the general ledger. Minimum Qualifications Working knowledge of payroll policies and procedures; payroll tax regulations. Working knowledge of payroll with defined duties and responsibilities in a payroll technician/accountant capacity. Demonstrated ability working in an automated time keeping system (Kronos Timekeeping System). Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Demonstrated ability to interpret tax laws and regulations. Demonstrated ability to reconcile payroll general ledger accounts and resolve discrepancies. Demonstrated ability to create complex spreadsheets. Working knowledge and experience in general and payroll accounting. Skill in problem solving matters related to payroll. Working knowledge of regulations and laws related to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Experience providing a high level of customer service and communication to both internal and external customers and stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications Associates degree desired in Accounting; Bachelor's degree preferred in Accounting, Finance or equivalent combination of training and education that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience. Preferred knowledge of and experience with VRS and Health insurance Reporting /reconciliation.
