Machine Shop Operator
Basic Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED equivalency. 1 year machine shop experience. Ability and willingness to use basic hand tools and measuring devices (i.e. - dial calipers, rulers, tape measures, protractors, micrometers, gauges, etc.) as required within department. Basic understanding of blueprint and process sheet interpretation. Perform basic mathematical calculations involving decimals, ratios, etc. Essential Functions & Responsibilities: Operate any type and size of single spindle, multiple spindles on a variety of operations such as drilling, reaming, boring, tapping, spot facing, countersinking, etc. Work with close tolerances and fine finishes. Perform tool offset and load parts. Perform job responsibilities according to internal process specifications and third-party requirements. Use all tools, jigs, fixtures, and gages necessary to perform operations. Perform duties on proto-type or first-time builds. Utilize proper PPE, safety equipment, and follow safety procedures. Participate in team initiatives. Cross-train as needed within the department. Report problems to appropriate resource and/or Coach. Proactively work to improve efficiency and quality of products. Participates in and support team initiatives. Understands and abides by the GE Leadership behaviors. Other duties as assigned. Desired Qualifications: 1-3 years machine shop experience in a manufacturing environment. Education and/or training in machine shop operations. Experience in a self-directed team environment. Experience working with manual and CNC equipment including but not limited to lathes, mills, etc. Demonstrates ability to work effectively in a team environment. Humble: respectful, receptive, agile, eager to learn. Transparent: shares critical information, speaks with candor, contributes constructively. Focused: quick learner, strategically prioritizes work, committed. Leadership ability: strong communicator, decision-maker, collaborative. Problem-solver: analytical-minded, challenges existing processes, critical thinker. Ability to use Microsoft applications to analyze data (i.e. Word, Excel, Oracle, etc.). Familiarity with 5S & lean manufacturing knowledge. Physical Demands: Ability to continuously use hands and fingers in repetition. Ability to occasionally bend, stoop, twist, crouch, squat, climb, and/or balance. Ability to continuously sit; ability to occasionally lift to 20 lbs.; ability to push/pull up to 22 lbs. The pay for this position is $21.60/hr. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary/commission based on the plan.
