Basic requirements:
Education: Only attendance and/or degrees from schools accredited by accrediting institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education may be credited.
Foreign Education:
If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university. Licensure: Possess and maintain a current, valid, unrestricted professional license/registration to practice Dentistry. Must possess and maintain a current and valid DEA license. Malpractice Insurance: Must possess and maintain malpractice insurance. Privileges:
Must apply for and have approved dental privileges at the WEHC. Certificates:
Must possess and maintain a basic life support (BLS) certificate. Experience:
Must have practiced clinically for 12 months within the past 3 years. Continuing Education: Must possess documentation of continuing dental education. Immunizations:
Contractor shall provide evidence of the following immunizations: MMR Immunization (measles, mumps, and rubella):
Individuals born on or after 1957 can be considered immune and shall provide documentation of physician-diagnosed measles, laboratory evidence of measles immunity, or adequate immunization with two doses of live measles vaccine on or after their first birthday. Individuals born prior to 1957 need not be considered susceptible; measles vaccine or proof of immunity is therefore not required. Individuals allergic to vaccine components or with a history of severe reactions will not be required to receive that vaccine. Tdap:
Tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis or, current Td booster. TB Test:
Annual tuberculosis test results must be negative. Shift Information: Open - 0700 - 1730 2nd shift - 0730 - 1800 Close - 0830 - 1900 Fields - 0800 - 1630 8-hour shifts: Open - 0700 - 1530 2nd shift - 0800 - 1630 Close - 1030 - 1900 Fields - 0800 - 1630 Working days are Monday through Friday (except Federal holidays), typically between 7:00 am and 3:30 pm. Duties include, but are not limited to: Providing dental services to children, adults, and the elderly. Interviewing and collecting pertinent health data from patients. Reviewing medical history and evaluating patient conditions. Developing and implementing treatment plans. Ensuring patient follow-up and conducting case conferences as necessary. Following IHS guidelines for Patient Referred Care. Performing diagnostic, screening, and examination procedures. Providing prophylaxis, restorative, endodontic, periodontal, oral surgery, pediatric dentistry, crown and bridge, radiographic interpretation, and other dental services. Prescribing medications and performing services using infection control practices. Communicating effectively in English and working independently. Providing services professionally and respectfully, respecting patient rights. Maintaining continuous service without interruption unless approved.
