Position Summary We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Nuclear Med Technologist-Bellevue. In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for performing medically prescribed nuclear medicine procedures; maintaining departmental standards in accordance with Policies and Procedures and up to date knowledge on new techniques and procedures. This position works under limited supervision independently performing Nuclear Medicine testing. Work situations require a service oriented individual. Procedures performed require independent judgement, initiative, ingenuity, and strict adherence to radiation safety management guidelines.
Job Responsibilities
Operate hospital and radiology information systems related to nuclear medicine.
Demonstrate knowledge of hospital and radiology information systems as they relate to radiology.
Select appropriate patient information from HIS/RIS system in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Access patient information; schedule exams; appointment times; type of exam; patient reports, etc.
Follow departmental HIS/RIS system procedures and protocols to ensure orders are verified and processed correctly.
Assess patients' information and status and follow appropriate procedures accordingly.
Use standard procedures to identify the correct patient.
Review patients' requisitions and understand the type of exam required; confer with medical staff when necessary.
Follow accepted radiologic procedures and use medical information to determine protocol for radiographic examination.
Consult policy and procedure manuals and/or other references to ensure actions conform to protocols.
Follow special instructions indicated on radiographic requisitions.
Recognize need for and follow isolation precautions.
Implement patient procedures independently according to departmental protocols and standards.
Explain procedures and equipment to patients clearly.
Solve problems during patient examinations using technical knowledge and innovation.
Adjust examinations to maximize information based on patient condition.
Consult with other technologists about previous approaches.
Demonstrate skill in equipment setup, utilization, and maintenance.
Perform visual and manual quality control checks of Nuclear Medicine equipment.
Use imaging and peripheral equipment safely and effectively.
Report any malfunctioning of equipment and notify appropriate personnel.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate's degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology.
Completion of a Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board NMTCB recognized program.
Certification/registration in Nuclear Medicine or eligibility by NMTCB or ARRT.
Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in nuclear medicine technology.
Qualified candidates must communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
