Description The Utility Investment Planning Project Manager will utilize extensive knowledge in electrical transmission and distribution systems to develop long-range investment plans for projects supporting electric utilities. The project manager will support a broad range of studies and consulting services related to aging infrastructure, system resilience, reliability, and electrification. These studies will provide a holistic review of the system and help develop financially justifiable long-term investment portfolios, aiding the electric industry in challenges associated with integrating renewables and electrification. The project manager will develop engineering, statistical, and financial models to assess equipment failure risks within transmission and distribution systems to determine necessary capital improvements. The role involves working with industry entities including investor-owned utilities, municipal utilities, and electric cooperatives. The project manager will also be a seller-doer, engaging directly with clients to identify new work, prepare proposals, define study objectives, formulate approaches, and oversee a team of consultants and engineers to meet project goals and deliver actionable results. Responsibilities Business development: Manage client relationships, identify new sales opportunities, lead proposal development, and negotiate contracts. Project execution: Lead project scope, schedule, budget management, ensure quality, communicate status and risks, and coordinate multidisciplinary teams. Leadership: Mentor and train team members, serve as an industry leader in power generation planning, and support company initiatives. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering, accounting, finance, or related field from an accredited program. At least 5 years of relevant experience, including 3+ years managing engineering or consulting projects for electric utilities. Broad knowledge of electric transmission and distribution systems. Experience working with large data sets and analytical tools. Knowledge of utility distribution system planning, design, and operations. Proven leadership and team management skills. Effective project management and communication skills. Ability to travel up to 25%. This job posting will remain open until filled, with a minimum duration of 72 hours.
