Position Description
In-Situ, Inc. is an industry leader in environmental and process monitoring technology. We are searching for an exceptional Technical Communication Manager to join our marketing team to lead the development of clear, engaging, and accurate customer-facing technical content that supports our marketing and sales objectives. In collaboration with our product managers, the Technical Communication Manager will bridge the gap between engineering and customer-facing teams, helping position our products with authority and clarity in the marketplace.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Develop and manage the creation of technical marketing content including Product spec sheets, brochures, case studies Technical posts Product web copy Manuals and quick start guides Sales enablement tools such as customer-facing product decks Product videos How-to content (including videos) Work with internal stakeholders (mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, sales, product managers, chemists, and software engineers) to define and document official user procedures, gather technical data, and ensure content accuracy. Collaborate with graphic designers, product managers, and technical sales to produce visually engaging and technically correct materials. Research and understand technical information and translate into clear, benefit-driven messaging to target audiences. Work with vendors and marcomm team to capture and edit photographs to use in documentation. Maintain and update the documentation design system and the digital asset management system. Assist with training on proper user procedures to internal and external groups Ensure consistent tone, terminology, and visual alignment across all content Manage documentation standards, templates and style guides. Support video scripts, infographics and technical animations in coordination with the creative team Monitor competitor materials and industry trends to inform content strategy Partner with UX designers to craft meaningful help content in software UIs Provide guidance for those on the team who are less experienced
Requirements
BS/BA in either a technical field, communication field, or equivalent experience Minimum 3 years in a technical communications, technical support, technical service or similar position Proficient with at least one standard documentation software (InDesign preferred) Ability to understand and translate complex technical and scientific systems and processes and communicate them to non-technical people in a simple and clear manner Basic grasp of good graphic design and document layout principles for documentation Proven history of defining and maintaining a content strategy Excellent writing skills (suggest having samples available) Strong attention to detail Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States
Key Skills & Competencies
Significant familiarity with technical and scientific concepts and language Able to independently build complete documentation for a new product from start to finish Able to facilitate meetings, workshops, and other cross-functional communication with internal teams to understand and align on unknown or undefined information Can define a technical communication strategy uniquely applicable to our business Can organize their work on technical communication projects based on business priorities Comfortable presenting and teaching user procedures to internal and external groups
Additional Ideal Candidate Experience
Instructional design and/or curriculum development Adobe CC, especially InDesign, Illustrator, Lightroom, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro Common CMS websites (e.g., Magento, WordPress, etc.) Online knowledgebase tools Figma and FigJam Product photography 3D design and rendering tools (e.g., Autodesk 360, SolidWorks, Blender, etc.) User research Project management tools like Smartsheet Agile development environment Teaching/training in a classroom Previous technical and/or scientific experience
