Job Summary: Responsible for managing hospital-based Sterile Processing Department(s)—either FMLH or both CHD campuses (FMFH and FWBH)—including reprocessing of surgical instrumentation and medical devices for Surgical Services and other departments. Responsibilities include planning, organizing, staffing, directing, controlling, and evaluating department operations. Ensures compliance with policies, procedures, and standards for decontamination, preparation, sterilization, transport, and storage. Maintains expertise in medical device reprocessing, sets organizational standards, trains staff, and ensures regulatory compliance. Manages personnel and resources efficiently.
Experience: Minimum 3 years in a peri-operative or peri-procedural environment, with at least 1 year in a leadership role. A Healthcare Administration Fellowship with a rotation in Sterile Processing may substitute. Experience specific to medical device reprocessing is preferred.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Health Administration, or Nursing required, or must be completed within one year of hire. Alternatively, a minimum of 5 years leadership experience in a technical environment will be considered. Master’s degree preferred.
Skills: Knowledge of Infection Control, Joint Commission standards, asepsis, surgical techniques, and equipment. Effective communication skills with hospital staff and vendors. Ability to produce reports and stay current with industry literature. Technical expertise in sterilization and computer skills including Excel.
Licensure: Preferred certifications include CRCST from HSPA or CSPDT from CBSPD.
