Bowhead seeks a Cloud Systems Administrator to support our customer on the Nautical contract in Arlington, VA. The role involves administration, maintenance, and optimization of cloud infrastructure for migrating legacy DoD applications to secure cloud environments across multiple classification levels. Responsibilities Administer and maintain cloud infrastructure across multiple classification levels, including DoD IL4/IL5 environments. Implement and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions with tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM templates. Monitor cloud system performance, availability, and security using enterprise tools. Configure and manage VMs, containers, storage, and networking in secure cloud environments. Implement backup, disaster recovery, and continuity procedures. Collaborate with security teams to ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity frameworks (RMF, NIST, STIG, DoD 8140). Troubleshoot complex issues and develop innovative solutions. Manage cloud costs and resource allocation. Document cloud configurations, procedures, and compliance measures. Participate in security assessments, vulnerability remediation, and accreditation. Support 24/7 operations and on-call duties. Interface with stakeholders, vendors, and partners. Lead cloud migration projects and mentor junior staff. Develop and enforce cloud governance policies. Coordinate with DevSecOps teams to integrate security practices. Manage privileged access and implement zero-trust architecture. Conduct performance tuning and capacity planning. Train and mentor team members.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent experience (minimum 10 years). At least 8 years of cloud-focused systems administration experience. Minimum 5 years managing cloud infrastructure in DoD or federal environments. Extensive experience with AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, or Google Cloud for Government. Proven administration experience in DoD IL4/IL5 cloud environments.

Technical Skills

Linux/Unix and Windows server administration. Containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift). Networking, firewalls, VPNs, and cloud security. Monitoring and logging tools (CloudWatch, Splunk, ELK, Nagios). Scripting and automation (PowerShell, Python, Bash, Ansible). Configuration management (Ansible, Puppet, Chef). DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines. Knowledge of DoD DevSecOps platforms.

Certification Requirements

Required: DoD 8570 IAT Level II (Security+ CE or equivalent). One major cloud platform certification (AWS Solutions Architect Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect).

Desired: DoD 8570 IAM Level III. Multiple cloud certifications. CISSP, CISM, or similar security certifications. Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA). Kubernetes certifications (CKA, CKAD).

Physical and Security Requirements

Lift 25 pounds occasionally. Stand and walk for prolonged periods. Twist, bend, and squat periodically. Maintain Top Secret clearance with SCI and SAP eligibility. US Citizenship required.
