The Family Court Division is seeking attorneys with a minimum of two years litigation experience for the position of Assistant Corporation Counsel in the Interstate Child Support Unit (ICSU) in Brooklyn, Bronx, Manhattan, and Queens offices. Attorneys litigate child support cases in the New York State Family Court, primarily before support magistrates and Family Court judges. The attorney's responsibilities include preparing and presenting petitions to establish paternity and child support, defending applications for modification of orders, handling enforcement matters, filing and responding to motions, conducting discovery, preparing legal memoranda, interviewing clients and witnesses, negotiating settlements, and conducting hearings and trials. The role may require evening and weekend work, including citywide rotation in juvenile delinquency court and attendance at community events. After orientation, attorneys may choose to work remotely either on a limited basis or through a citywide pilot program allowing two set days of remote work each week, subject to division approval and operational needs. Court appearances and in-person meetings will require attendance in person regardless of remote work arrangements. Graduates of an ABA-accredited law school, admitted and in good standing with the NYS bar, with at least two years of relevant experience.
