As the Design Prototyping Manager at eTech, you will lead a team of electronics engineering technologists, prototype software developers, and CAD modelers to create high-fidelity prototypes from concepts. Leveraging your expertise in automotive design and engineering, you will play a key role in developing future Ford vehicle content and experiences. This role requires a deep understanding of automotive systems, strong organizational skills, and project management from conception to completion.
This position follows a hybrid schedule (four days in office, one remote), with occasional in-office work based on project needs.
Qualifications
You’ll have… Associate’s degree in engineering, computer science, or equivalent 5+ years of experience in automotive engineering or design, with knowledge of vehicle systems 5+ years leading complex electronics or electromechanical projects and teams Experience with prototype manufacturing techniques such as 3D printing, milling, fiberglass layups, clay modeling, etc. Experience collaborating with design, engineering, marketing, and program management teams Background in engineering, computer science, or similar field Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment Familiarity with coding software like Node.js, C++, or similar Strong problem-solving and creative thinking skills Excellent communication and teamwork abilities Preferred qualifications include… Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or related field 10+ years leading complex projects and teams Proficiency in CAD software such as Rhino, Alias, and CATIA Experience with AI, machine learning, or advanced technologies If you believe you can bring value to Ford, we encourage you to apply. What you’ll do… Lead a team to design and build prototypes for show, concept, and pre-production vehicles, including interior/exterior systems and digital demonstrators. Develop build timing plans and manage parts to meet milestones. Collaborate with teams to define scope, timing, and budget, managing these throughout the prototype cycle. Manage relationships with partners to ensure cohesive processes. Identify opportunities for process improvements and stay updated on industry trends to enhance prototypes.
