Job Description
Interpret, evaluate and implement Nursing/ Patient Care Services and Hospital Policies and Procedures.
Work collaboratively with hospital administration, and other disciplines to ensure follow-up on nursing issues and coordination of patient care activities.
Receive and evaluate reports from Head Nurse/Designee. Offer guidance and direction in solving problems.
Receive and evaluate daily staffing and scheduling on her assigned department/ services to ensure adequate staffing.
Plans for adequate daily staff coverage.
Plan, recommend and work collaboratively with the Director of Nursing in establishing a plan to motivate staff, develop their skills to improve quality of patient care, and continue to gain knowledge and expertise in the care of the child and adolescent patient.
Make unit rounds and educates staff on issues at hand.
Enforce established Infection Control Policy and Procedures.
Implement current established Performance Improvement Program.
Participate and support all administrative and clinical activities related to preparation for surveys of various regulatory agencies, e.g., Special Projects on Advance Directives, Restraint Risk Assessment, etc.
Act as a patient advocate.
Cover as necessary weekend, holidays and off tour
Minimum Qualifications
Licensed and currently registered to practice as a professional nurse in New York State, plus (2) or (3), below. Masters degree in Nursing Administration, Education, Clinical Specialty or equivalent field and five years of satisfactory nursing experience, of which three years shall have been in a supervisory or teaching capacity; or a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing and six years of satisfactory nursing experience, four years of which shall have been in a supervisory or teaching capacity. A satisfactory equivalent of education and experience. However, all candidates must be licensed and currently registered to practice as a Professional Nurse in New York State.
