Yes Position Purpose:
To lead the development and implementation of advanced Large Language Models for a pioneering digital mental health platform at Dartmouth College that combines AI-driven support with passive behavioral sensing. This innovative system will use state-of-the-art AI to provide students with personalized, contextually-aware mental health and wellness support while incorporating real-time behavioral data from smartphone sensors. The role involves creating sophisticated AI models to generate safe, effective responses while adapting to individual student needs and behavioral patterns. This position is essential in demonstrating how universities can responsibly leverage AI technology to provide scalable, personalized mental health support for their student communities. Required Qualifications - Education and Yrs Exp: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, AI/ML, or related field with 6+ years of experience in developing and deploying large language models. Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Strong expertise in modern AI frameworks and tools Experience with model fine-tuning and adaptation techniques Demonstrated ability to implement AI safety measures and content filtering Strong understanding of ML ops and model deployment Experience with real-time inference optimization Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills Strong programming skills in Python and related ML technologies Preferred Qualifications: Experience with mental health or healthcare applications of AI Knowledge of multimodal AI systems incorporating sensor data Background in developing AI systems for academic or research environments Experience with responsible AI development and ethical guidelines Familiarity with HIPAA compliance requirements Experience with AI model monitoring and maintenance Knowledge of behavioral health interventions Publications or research experience in AI/ML Experience with distributed computing and GPU optimization Department Contact for Recruitment Inquiries: Phone Number: 603-646-7080 Equal Opportunity Employer:

Design and implement large language models optimized for mental health and wellness support Develop training pipelines that incorporate behavioral sensing data and contextual information Create mechanisms for personalizing AI responses based on individual user patterns and needs Implement sophisticated safety filters and content moderation systems Optimize model performance and response generation for real-time interactions Develop and maintain model evaluation metrics and quality assurance processes Safety and Supervision Systems: Design and implement supervisor models to oversee primary AI model outputs Create robust hallucination detection and prevention systems Implement multi-layered safety checks for generated responses Develop crisis detection and escalation protocols Ensure ethical AI principles are maintained throughout the system Monitor and analyze model behavior for potential biases or safety concerns Integration and Optimization: Collaborate with mobile and backend teams to integrate AI models with the broader platform Develop efficient interfaces for real-time model inference and updates Create documentation for AI system architecture and processes Participate in regular system reviews and improvements Contribute to research publications and technical documentation Demonstrates a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness through actions, interactions, and communications with others.
