What You'll Do

We are excited to offer an opportunity for a Senior Government Product Quality Engineer to join our team in Tempe, AZ! The Senior Government Product Quality Engineer oversees the quality of Viasat government programs from proposal through delivery, including requirement review, developing and implementing product assurance plans based on customer requirements, requirements compliance verification, product design and process approvals, nonconformance management, root cause analysis, risk management, and supporting audits. This role also involves coordinating quality assurance activities across Viasat's functions, suppliers, and contract manufacturers.

Assess customer, military, and industry requirements to develop tailored Quality Plans for compliance.

Participate in product development to ensure quality is integrated and lessons learned are applied.

Support program meetings (KO, SRR, PDR, CDR, MRR, TRRs) to ensure design compliance with requirements and conduct Quality Readiness Reviews.

Review manufacturing processes for capability and readiness, ensuring controls, training, and metrics are in place.

Implement inspections and tests for procured products from manufacturing to delivery.

Identify, control, and disposition nonconforming materials, supporting material review activities.

Drive failure analysis and root cause investigations, ensuring corrective actions are timely and effective.

Analyze and report quality performance using statistical tools to support internal and external customers.

Conduct internal and supplier audits against product and process requirements, driving corrective actions.

Manage ISO9001/AS9100 adherence audits, review findings, and communicate with management.

What You'll Need

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering or similar.

7+ years of experience with government/aerospace programs in a Quality Engineering role.

Strong communication, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills; able to work independently and with government/regulatory bodies.

Experience in design and development environments, especially related to hardware, mechanical, software, and manufacturing quality management.

Analytical skills to resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions.

Ability to learn quickly and organize work to meet deadlines.

Knowledge of PLM tools (e.g., Agile) and ERP systems (e.g., Oracle/SAP).

U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance up to TS/SCI.

Willingness to travel up to 10%.

Knowledge of FMEA, Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, SPC, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing.

Salary range

$104,000 - $164,500 annually. For locations in San Jose, the Bay Area, and NYC, the range is $129,000 - $194,000. Compensation depends on experience and background, with additional incentives and benefits. More info at
