seeking two

investment accountants at the

AVP or Director level . The role reports to the CAO and will frequently support the CIO through direct interaction.

Key Focus Areas

The client is going through broader process improvements, so it’s a good time to come in and put your stamp on how things run. With over $42B in assets and dry powder to deploy, they’re seeking someone who knows PAM and can lead process improvements to strengthen and streamline reporting. This is a high-impact role for someone who’s hands-on, detail-oriented, and experienced in transformation initiatives—someone who can partner closely with the CIO, take ownership of data flows, and contribute accounting expertise to a team focused on operational upgrades.

NYC or Somerset County, NJ Hybrid (3 days in office)

Compensation is generally gravitating to the $178,000 – $185,000 range all-in (Director Level) & $190,000 – $215,000 range all-in (AVP Level)

Responsibilities

Handle GAAP and statutory accounting for the investment portfolio. Help manage the month-end and quarter-end close process for investment-related entries. Prepare or review key U.S. statutory schedules related to investments. Draft or review required U.S. GAAP disclosures for investment reporting. Support reporting needs for foreign operations and branches. Partner with teams across financial reporting and investment management. Produce both standard and custom reports for leadership. Maintain and strengthen internal control procedures related to investments. Research accounting implications of new investment types and support any required process updates. Contribute to fair value assessments and impairment reviews of investments. Provide reconciliations and account analysis on a monthly, quarterly, and year-end basis. Assist with special projects and ad-hoc analysis as prioritized by senior leadership.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent. 7+ years of accounting experience, ideally in the insurance or reinsurance industry. Strong grasp of investment accounting under U.S. GAAP, with working knowledge of statutory reporting in an insurance setting. Familiarity with systems like PAM and Bloomberg Proven leadership capabilities with experience guiding and developing team members. Strong analytical mindset with a problem-solving orientation.
