$150,000.00/yr - $155,000.00/yr Client is a leading global reinsurance and insurance provider with nearly 50 years of experience, operating across key markets worldwide. With $14 billion in Gross Written Premium, the company offers Property, Casualty, and specialty products, backed by a strong balance sheet, innovative culture, and excellent underwriting. Financially robust with A+ ratings from major agencies, Client is known for its nimble and entrepreneurial approach, focused on long-term value creation. The company is expanding its North American operations and is seeking a Director of Investment Accounting.
This role has up to 2 direct reports. The scope of the role includes: working with the 3rd party investment managers; pulling data into PAM and then into the Ledger. Someone whose had investment operations experience and then transitioned into an accounting/reporting role would be ideal. The accounting is around fixed income products. The STAT experience is a nice to have but not a requirement. The Carrier is scaling up and there are promotion/development opportunities within the organization. 3 days a week in the NJ office. The all in compensation is expected to fall in the $175,000 - $180,000 range.
Responsibilities
Accounting and reporting of investments on a GAAP and Statutory basis. Support the management of the monthly and quarterly investment close process. Preparation and or review of various U. S. statutory investment schedules and U.S. GAAP investment disclosures. Support local reporting of foreign branches and subsidiaries. Coordinate with financial reporting and investment management teams. Support the preparation of standard and ad-hoc reports for senior leadership. Establish and maintain internal controls. Research accounting issues for new investment structures and coordinate any changes required in workflow and operations. Assist with the review of fair value of investments and related impairment analysis. Providing monthly, quarterly, and year-end analyses along with account reconciliations. Assist with ad-hoc analyses and strategic projects determined by the needs of senior management.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent degree) in accounting. Knowledge of PAM and Bloomberg a plus. 10+ years of experience in accounting. Solid understanding of investment accounting and reporting under U.S. GAAP. Experience with U.S. insurance statutory accounting and reporting a plus. Leadership skills and ability to motivate and develop staff. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Highly skilled in math, accounting, and financial processes. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Detail oriented and highly organized. Skilled in time management and the ability to prioritize tasks. Highly proficient with Excel. Insurance/ reinsurance industry experience a plus.
