Research and Development Manager/Sr. Manager
The Sr. Manager, Research and Development
will oversee the entire product development lifecycle from concept to commercialization across all product lines. The focus will include innovative concept and platform development in a dynamic marketplace. The manager will execute projects while coaching and mentoring the product development team, primarily working with liquid (aseptic) and powdered protein products, with responsibilities evolving as the company grows and explores new technologies. Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities : Direct and coordinate 2-5 food scientists and product developers. Act as a player/coach to drive the project load of the team to completion while managing personal product/process development projects. Inspire the product development team to achieve high performance and excellence throughout the product development cycle. Provide leadership in food science and product development with employees, suppliers, partners, and customers. Design dairy and plant-based beverage solutions in powder and liquid formats (RTD and concentrates), based on flavor profile, texture, color, shelf life, and nutritional content, ensuring compliance with standards. Develop liquid concentrates, coffee, tea, and all beverage RTD products. Support Operations and Quality through training, troubleshooting, monitoring pilot and scale-up trials, and overseeing initial production runs. Assist Supply Chain in evaluating and verifying ingredients. Drive cost optimization through reformulation initiatives and collaboration with procurement and vendors. Develop product specifications and ensure proper labeling. Maintain broad understanding of current products, projects, and formulations. Manage data and report trends and findings to the organization. Ensure all activities follow GLP, GMP, and company policies. Qualifications: Bachelor’s and master’s degrees in food science required. At least 10 years of progressively responsible food industry product development experience, including team management. Minimum of 3 years working with protein beverages, hydrocolloids, and emulsifying systems. Experience in sweetener development and flavor applications is highly preferred.
