We are developing the future of Army Aviation with the Bell Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) part of the US Army’s Future Vertical Lift (FVL) modernization effort. We are also developing the Bell 525 Relentless and Bell's High-Speed Vertical Take-Off and Landing (HSVTOL) program, a next generation rotor-craft.

Aircraft Survivability Engineer - RF Signature Principal

You will be an integral part of the Bell Survivability team whose responsibilities are to design and develop survivable aircraft to meet the needs for the United States military on the modern battlefield.

Responsible for analyzing, modeling, and optimizing radar signature characteristics of various platforms and materials to ensure compliance with design specifications and operational requirements. Utilizing advanced electromagnetic simulation tools and measurement techniques, you will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including design engineers and system integrators, to assess and minimize radar visibility.

The survivability team is responsible for aircraft characterization and requirements compliance for a wide range of technologies: Radio Frequency (RF), Infrared, Visual, and Acoustic signatures; ballistic vulnerability; Aircraft Survivability Equipment integration optimization; and aircraft Mission Analysis.

The survivability team works with the Bell engineering professionals integrating survivability technologies into the aircraft of today and tomorrow through analysis and testing to achieve the aircraft survivability needs for the Warfighter.

What you’ll be doing as a Principal RF Signature Engineer:

Take part in the organization, planning, and management of new aircraft RF Signature and antenna integration activities within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) to meet program and customer defined requirements. Perform Radio Frequency or Radar Cross-Section signature analysis for military aircraft using various computational software tools such as X-Patch, Carlos, SWITCH, SENTRi, or other frequency-domain RF codes. Collaborate with other Bell and government engineers to effectively integrate RF signature reduction design features to include aircraft shape and special materials. Perform Antenna integration performance and CoSite analyses to support communication and Aircraft Survivability Equipment (ASE) optimization installation utilizing WIPL-D, HFSS, CST MWS, or Feko. Support new aircraft and technology development as well as proprietary analytical tools and applications. Collaborate with other Bell Engineers, US government subject matter experts, suppliers of ASE to effectively integrate Radar Warning and RF Counter-Measure systems. Effectively present design and analysis results to both internal and external audiences. Your expertise will contribute to the development of cutting-edge technologies in stealth capabilities and enhance the effectiveness of national defense systems. Skills You Bring To This Role:

Experience meshing target models and ability to modify outer mold lines to achieve RF requirements. Experience conducting RF analytical studies predicting Radar Cross-Section and integrated antenna performance. Experience with RF testing and RF material integration. Excellent communicator, must be able to build and maintain effective relationships with customers, internal and external suppliers, and brief leaders/customers. We are looking for inquisitive and driven engineers with a passion to innovate.

What you need to be successful:

Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in aerospace engineering, the ideal candidate will possess a strong background in electromagnetic theory, radar engineering, and applied mathematics, complemented by hands-on experience in RCS measurement and modeling. Proficiency in tools such as Xpatch or similar electromagnetic predictive software is essential Bachelor’s degree with a Major in Electrical Engineering, or Electro-Magnetic (EM) Fields Technology. Advanced degrees will be considered as additional experience. Related degrees with relevant experience will be considered Must have SECRET level security clearance.
