POWER Engineers, a member of WSP, is seeking a Senior Design Studies Engineer with expertise in AC Interference. This position is available in multiple POWER office locations with the possibility of remote work from a mutually agreed location. Please specify your preferred location in the application.
Roles and Responsibilities The successful candidate will be responsible for completing assigned projects and maintaining strong customer relationships. This includes developing strategies to minimize electromagnetic interference (EMI) between transmission lines and infrastructure such as railways or pipelines, conducting electromagnetic field assessments, designing mitigation systems, and providing technical support for systems affected by AC interference. The role requires participation in proposal writing and customer engagement to develop new business opportunities. The candidate should possess strong technical, organizational, and communication skills, and be willing to mentor junior engineers.
Required Education/Experience
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)
At least 10 years of experience in electromagnetic compatibility analysis
Knowledge of railroad signaling systems, electromagnetic fields, interference, and compatibility principles
Experience with EMI assessment and mitigation strategies
Proficiency with CDEGS/HIFREQ or similar software
Understanding of EMC standards and safety regulations
Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal
Desired Education/Experience
Power Systems-focused MSEE or PhD
Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent
Experience with high voltage power systems and additional design studies
Experience with electromagnetic transient software (e.g., ATP, PSCAD, EMTP)
