Description: The Surgical Physician Assistant (PA) provides patient care in collaboration with specific surgeons, either face-to-face or via telehealth using communication devices such as phone or computer. Responsibilities include conducting surgical history and physical exams, ordering and interpreting diagnostic and lab tests, and developing care plans. The PA writes prescriptions, including controlled substances, per Delineation of Privileges, and assists in surgery. Performs surgical procedures in the operating room under direct supervision of the surgeon, and procedures in the clinic under direct or indirect supervision. The PA maintains a synergistic relationship with the surgeon, utilizing highly technical skills to enhance patient safety and surgical outcomes. Manages patients across preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative settings, including inpatient rounding, consultations, wound care, and bedside procedures. In outpatient settings, manages clinics, procedures, facilitates family and patient education, and participates in grand rounds. Collaborates with staff, administration, patients, and families to ensure quality care across the continuum, serving as an expert in surgical practice areas. Provides on-call coverage, requiring high-level decision-making on weekdays, weeknights, and weekends, including surgical cases. The estimated salary range for this position is $124,284.36 - $161,569.66 per year, depending on experience. Note: There is a duplicate statement of the salary range, which can be consolidated for clarity. Qualifications: Degrees: Master's degree required. Licenses & Certifications: NCCPA Certified Physician Assistant, DEA License (as per specialty), and BLS/ACLS certifications (as per specialty). Additional Qualifications: Must obtain medical staff credentialing and privileges. Compliant with state requirements for CEUs/CMEs and licensure renewal. Graduate of an accredited physician assistant program with at least one semester of surgical training. Demonstrates proper surgical and sterile techniques. Must have national certification.
