The Surgical APP provides patient care in collaboration with specific surgeons, face-to-face or via telehealth, on communication devices such as phone or computer. Conducts surgical history/physical exams, orders and interprets diagnostic/lab tests, and develops a plan of care. Writes prescriptions, controlled substances per Delineation of Privileges. First assists in surgery. Performs surgical procedures in the operating room under the direct supervision of the surgeon. Performs procedures in the clinic under direct or indirect supervision. The APP has a synergistic relationship with the surgeon and highly technical skills that increase patient safety and positive surgical outcomes. Enables the continuity of care by managing patients in the preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative settings. Performs inpatient rounding, consultations, wound care, and bedside procedures. In the outpatient setting, manages clinics, clinic procedures, facilitates family and patient education, and participates in grand rounds. Works directly with staff, administration, patients, and families to ensure quality care across the continuum as an expert in surgical practice areas. Performs on-call coverage requiring high-level decision-making on weekdays, weeknights, and weekends, inclusive of surgery. The estimated salary range for this position is $124284.36 - $161569.67 / year, depending on experience. Qualifications:
Qualified Surgical APRNs will require: Masters Degree Valid Florida APRN License Nurse Practitioner National certification DEA License BLS Certification RNFA Registered Nurse First Assist Certification 3 years of relevant nursing experience required. Must be compliant with state of Florida requirements for CEUs and licensure. Must obtain medical staff credentialing and privileges as needed for practice location. If APRN requires hospital inpatient medical staff privileges and does not have an acute care certification, refer to BHSF Policy 701 titled Educational and training requirements to be credentialed to work in an acute care setting for Advanced Practice Registered Nurse. Qualified Surgical PAs will require: Masters Degree Valid Florida PA License NCCPA Certification DEA License BLS Certification Must be compliant with state of Florida requirements for CMEs and licensure.
