Responsibilities:
Evaluate utility SOPs and options for EVgo for infrastructure design from the Grid POI through to our customer’s vehicle including the XFMR, SWBD, mains breaker, secondary breakers, and array of EVSE charging sets. This includes requirements coordination, specification ownership, and review of operating data to enforce reliability and uptime requirements. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to innovate and lead in power efficiency, contributing to strategic advances in power management, predictive maintenance, and alignment with supplier product roadmaps. Troubleshoot complex challenges using innovative data fusion, AI tools, and expert knowledge to enhance the customer charging experience. Work on next-generation architectures and power systems to maintain technical advantages, reduce costs, and improve reliability. Lead or support network models from utility generation to our variable DC output (250-1000VDC), defining requirements, designing topology, selecting components, and overseeing physical layout, construction, commissioning, and benchmarking throughout the full lifecycle. Define, architect, and test power management fail-safe solutions in collaboration with hardware and software teams. Support NPI, field, and commissioning teams in installing, testing, and troubleshooting power and signal interconnections. Assist with power efficiency testing using electrical bench setups and HIL systems, calibrating models for efficiency and reliability considering Volt-Var characteristics, load change scenarios, grid quality, and faults. Coordinate with electrical, mechanical, harness, firmware, software, and test engineers to deliver fully functional product solutions. Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with 4+ years of experience designing, testing, and troubleshooting grid-tied infrastructure equipment such as XFRMs, SWBDs, breakers, UPS, CTs & VTs, PLCs, RTUs, DCS/SCADA systems. Strong understanding of engineering principles with practical application ensuring safety, compliance, and system reliability. Expertise in power engineering topics including bonding, grounding, fault protection, arc-flash, ozone impacts, corrosion, humidity, etc. Hands-on experience with power measurement instruments and debugging complex power systems. Experience with EMI effects on mixed-signal PCBs, shielding, grounding, and filtering techniques. Proficiency in wire management, termination, and high-voltage power distribution. Ability to perform power system analysis, simulation, and testing to optimize solutions. Competence with lab equipment like oscilloscopes, DMMs, analyzers, and familiarity with thermal and EMI testing chambers. Knowledge of electrical bus interfaces such as CAN, I2C, SPI, Ethernet, RS232/422, RS485, USB.
