Temporary/Permanent: Temporary Other Conditions: On private funds, temporary, part-time, non-tenure track, annually renewable depending on performance, departmental needs and/or funding availability. To begin approximately September 2025 subject to position clearance and availability of funds.
Duties and Responsibilities: Serve as resource persons in their area of specialization and give lectures or conferences/colloquia upon request.
Facilitate student-centered learning, demonstrate positive attitude to student growth, and contribute to student well-being through the Advisor Program.
Clinical care of patients both in an ambulatory/outpatient and tertiary hospital setting at medical institutions affiliated with JABSOM.
Supervision of medical students, residents and fellows in clinical care.
Develop and conduct scholarly research that will result in timely publication or results in peer- reviewed journals that include at least co-authorship of publications.
Take on increasing responsibility for administering programs in research, education and clinical care.
Responsible for administering the clinical courses and pre-clinical problem-based learning (PBL) curriculum for the MD program.
Develop innovative educational or clinical programs.
Organize and administer educational or training experiences for medical students, residents or fellows.
Serve as a mentor for junior faculty members, fellows, residents or medical students.
Provide service to the department, medical school, university, and community.
May serve in a leadership capacity within the department.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: MD Degree or equivalent medical degree from a medical school of recognized standing. Board certification in the clinical discipline involved in the specific position A minimum of four years in the rank of Associate Professor or ten years of other medical experience, or a total often years of teaching in the rank of Associate Professor and other medical experience, or one year in the rank of Professor at another medical school of recognized standing. Proven ability as a teacher, scholar, investigator, administrator, and/or clinician. Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and supervise academic activities and to undertake a variety of teaching, committee, administrative, and/or clinical assignments. Recognition for a major contribution to the clinical specialty Demonstrated capacity for leadership in the clinical department and medical profession. Ability to serve as a role model for students and junior colleagues. Must have a current Hawaii medical license by date of hire. Excellent poise and communication skills in meeting and conferring with others.
