For every new product launched and every trade executed, it is Operations that develops and manages the processes and controls that enable business flow. YOUR IMPACT We are looking for an operational risk professional to join our Banking Core Services Risk Management team within the Global Banking & Markets (GBM) organization. In this role, you will support our Investment Banking Operations franchise to help manage and improve our operational risk profile. Your opportunity for high visibility impact includes analyzing the key risks and controls managed by Investment Banking Operations, dynamically responding to emerging risks, applying risk management tools to monitor and communicate to the leadership group, and sharing best practices to continuously improve risk management culture and the control environment. RESPONSIBILITIES: The candidate will work closely with the Investment Banking Operations Chief Risk Officer on the following tasks: Risk Analytics – monitor and report on key risk metrics (via KRI’s/KPI’s), highlighting any areas of concerns and remediation efforts Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) – ensure completion of quarterly RCSA requirements, risk and control inventories reflect the current risk environment and vet through RCSA issues raised to ensure proper remediation is in place Help drive the agenda and conversations in risk meetings Probe when incidents occur and assess the risks the teams are running; partner with the business units to understand the residual risks that exist after issues are identified and resolved Conduct risk reviews on areas with particular concern and make recommendations/suggestions to socialize and close any control gaps Work closely with other risk managers in other locations to share key initiatives and best practices; better integrate with the wider global Operations Risk Management teams Establish trusted partnerships with peers, functional leads, and executive level stakeholders Work on various division-wide risk initiatives PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: Relevant professional experience in operational risk management, audit and/or compliance preferred Strong control mindset with a passion for risk management. Excellent communication skills to clearly articulate issues and ideas with different levels across Global Banking & Markets stakeholders. Strong analytical skills with an ability to understand complex workflows, and excellent attention to details. Innovative, including a keen eye for identifying areas of control enhancements and automation which have practical value. Good influencing skills to challenge the status quo and continuously enhance the control environment. Ability to perform data analytics using metrics to identify trends and themes. Knowledge of Excel, Powerpoint, Word, Alteryx and SharePoint and the ability to take data driven decisions using metrics. Sound time management skills to be able to effectively prioritize and multi-task. Drive and motivation to improve personal performance, broaden knowledge, work intensely towards extremely challenging goals and persist in the face of obstacles or setbacks. Good interpersonal and teamwork skills to collaborate as a global team and build strong relationships with key stakeholders across divisions. Proven ability to effectively manage operational risks and to develop control enhancements. Keeps current with emerging business, economic and market trends.
