Position Summary:
The Psychiatrist is responsible for providing comprehensive psychiatric care to youth in residential congregate care settings. This includes conducting psychiatric evaluations, diagnosing mental health conditions, developing individualized treatment plans, and prescribing and managing psychotropic medications. The Psychiatrist collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to ensure trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate, and culturally competent care. The role requires understanding child and adolescent mental health in contexts of trauma, family disruption, and systems involvement. The Psychiatrist also offers consultation, crisis support, and ongoing medication management to promote stability and emotional wellness. Responsibilities: Conduct psychiatric assessments evaluating mental, emotional, and behavioral health needs. Diagnose conditions and develop evidence-based treatment plans with the care team. Prescribe, monitor, and adjust psychotropic medications. Participate in team meetings to coordinate care. Provide crisis intervention and psychiatric consultations. Maintain accurate clinical documentation. Support trauma-informed and culturally competent care practices. Requirements
Education: Completion of an ACGME-accredited psychiatry residency (required) Board Eligible or Board Certified in Psychiatry (required) Valid NY State medical license or eligibility (required) Current DEA registration (required) Certification in trauma-informed or evidence-based treatment models (preferred) Experience: Knowledge of child and adolescent psychiatric disorders, trauma-informed care, and psychopharmacology. Experience treating children aged 7-18 and collaborating with families. Experience with youth impacted by trauma, foster care, juvenile justice, or behavioral health systems (highly desirable). Driver's License and insurability throughout employment.
