Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Provide technical support and expertise for network systems for a university medical system. Responsible for the implementation and support of network equipment, network software, daily operational incidents, service request tickets, network and VoIP break/fix support, incident escalation, network maintenance, and network configuration. Support the 24 x 7 production environment, including core, distribution, wired and wireless access layers, IPAM, DHCP, VoIP systems, WAN, and network monitoring. Build, install, monitor, optimize, troubleshoot, maintain, and document network systems; assess network configurations and health, identify issues, and recommend remediation; participate in hardware refreshes, new segment builds, and WAN clinics; configure monitoring platforms; and diagnose and troubleshoot to resolve issues and improve system performance. Salary range: $115,690 to $227,700/year. The employer offers a hybrid work-from-home benefit within commuting distance from the jobsite. Job Qualifications
Required: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, electrical engineering, or a related field, plus five years of relevant experience. Alternatively, a Master’s degree plus three years of experience. Suitable combinations of education and experience are accepted. Experience analyzing end-user needs and devising cost-effective solutions. Clear, detailed, and grammatically correct communication skills in letters, memos, reports, policies, and procedures. Experience communicating with end-users. Ability to work independently and in teams. Researching and testing new networking technologies. Knowledge of DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP. Data networking skills including IP & Ethernet routing and switching. Experience with OSI model testing and implementation. Knowledge of industry protocols: OSPF, HSRP, EIGRP, BGP, TCP/IP, 802.1x, IPSec, Radius, TACACS+. Using network analyzers like WireShark and Fluke tools. Supporting VoIP and ISP network management systems. Experience with VLAN, VRF, HSRP, Port Security, Traffic Shaping, CoS. Understanding of cabling types: multimode fiber, single-mode fiber, LC, SC, Cat5, Cat5e, Cat6, RJ45. Troubleshooting tools: traceroute, ping, mtr, nmap, netstat, ipconfig/ifconfig, iperf.
