Position Summary: Frankston Packaging is seeking an experienced
Prepress & Platemaking Manager — Flexographic Printing
to lead our prepress platemaking operations at our Tyler, Texas facility. This is a
full-time, on-site leadership role
responsible for overseeing the platemaking process, ensuring high-quality output, managing workflows, and maintaining both legacy and modern prepress technologies. We are looking for a skilled leader with a deep understanding of the printing and packaging industry, excellent people skills, and the ability to adapt to evolving technology platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise daily operations of the prepress platemaking department Lead, train, and mentor the prepress team to ensure high-quality flexographic plate production Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot both conventional and digital platemaking equipment Manage workflow, scheduling, and overall departmental efficiency Collaborate with the pressroom, customer service, scheduling, and quality teams to meet production goals Monitor platemaking inventory and ensure timely ordering of materials and supplies Maintain standard operating procedures and drive continuous process improvement Lead technology upgrades, implementations, and training within the prepress area Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies Skills & Competencies:
Flexographic Industry Expertise:
5+ years in flexographic prepress platemaking with hands-on production experience Knowledge of analog and digital plate processing and imaging systems Understanding of color theory, registration, mounting, and press-ready preparation Familiarity with prepress software (e.g., Esko, ArtPro, RIP workflows) preferred
Leadership & Management:
Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop a team Strong organizational skills for workload and schedule management Track record of driving productivity, quality, and departmental goals
Technical & Process Improvement:
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Experience with workflow automation and digital file preparation Proactive in maintenance practices and minimizing downtime
Business Acumen & Communication:
Effective communication and collaboration across teams Customer service approach with internal clients and production partners Budget awareness with a focus on material management and cost control
Compliance & Quality:
Dedication to safety protocols and operational compliance Familiarity with industry quality standards such as ISO or G7
