. The Role: The Senior Manager, Accounts Payable, will report to the Global Director, Finance Transactional Operations. The role will oversee global accounts payable—including Travel, Corporate Card, and T&E operations—for over 50 entities located in over 30 countries. The Senior Manager is a strategic partner on financial and accounting operational matters across several functional areas, especially vendor master data management, invoice processing, the Concur expense management program, and American Express purchasing and travel-card programs. The Senior AP Manager also partners cross-functionally with global offices, leadership teams, and third-party travel, airline, and hotel suppliers to optimize pricing, generate cost savings, and uphold service commitments. Responsibilities: Manage full-cycle accounts payable processes, including invoice processing, vendor management, and payment execution. Supervise a remote team of 10 professionals, including AP supervisors, team leads, and analysts, with presence in Chicago, London, Munich, and Tampa, fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability. Conduct regular performance reviews and provide opportunities for professional growth and development. Track AP key performance indicators and metrics, delivering trends and insights to senior leadership. Create, document, and enforce policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure operational excellence. Monitor and review weekly pay cycles and handle emergency payments as needed. Keep up with widely accepted global payment forms, such as SEPA and local direct debit, and stay abreast of banking infrastructure and international payment processing trends. Adhere to GAAP, SOX, internal controls, and regulatory requirements. Prepare and provide documentation ready for internal and external audits. Manage month-end and year-end closing activities related to accounts payable, including accruals and reconciliations. Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, including travel management companies, airlines, and hotels, and resolve complex payment and dispute issues. Collaborate with Procurement, Treasury, Accounting, and other corporate teams to streamline workflows and implement automation solutions. Lead or support ERP and AP system upgrades, maintenance, or implementations. (e.g., PeopleSoft Financials, Concur, Workday, Salesforce). Identify and address AP process and technology gaps, championing continuous improvement initiatives. Oversee all aspects of the global American Express Procurement Card (P-Card), Travel, and Corporate Card programs. RequiredQualifications: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. 7+ years of progressive accounts payable experience, including 3+ years in a managerial or supervisory role. Proven leadership in team development, performance management, and coaching. Expertise in international AP operations, international currencies, FX, VAT, and regulatory frameworks. Demonstrated success implementing process improvements, automation, and internal controls. Motivated by and thrives in a fast-paced environment with frequent ad hoc requests and changing priorities. Proficiency in AP software (e.g., PeopleSoft Financials, Workday, Concur, Salesforce). Advanced Microsoft Excel skills: ability to analyze and visualize financial data. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Experience working in a global or multi-entity organization. Familiarity with e-payment platforms and e-invoicing tools. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a global public company environment. Pay Range Guidelines for this Position: The salary range for this position is 145000 USD to 160000 USD. Compensation is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience and skills. In addition to your salary, Heidrick & Struggles offers discretionary bonuses (subject to eligibility requirements) and a comprehensive benefits package including: medical, dental, vision, disability leave, parental leave, paid time off and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
