Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a talented Mission Assurance Engineer to join our Safety and Mission Assurance (S&MA) team in Gilbert, AZ or Dulles, VA. In this role, you will implement and enforce mission/flight assurance plans for individual spacecraft flight hardware programs addressing design, manufacturing, integration, and test activities in accordance with company and contractual requirements. You will work as a senior member of the NG Flight Assurance staff in various groups to address complex technical issues, ensure program requirements are met, and ensure mission success. You will interface with customers, vendors, and with NG Manufacturing, Integration & Test, and Engineering organizations to identify, resolve, and prevent mission/flight assurance issues. Duties include but are not limited to: Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place. Performs oversight and monitoring of program risks and opportunities.
Implements and administers an effective Safety and Mission Assurance program in compliance with applicable customer contracts and other guidelines set forth by requirements throughout the contract life cycle.
Ensures contractual program requirements are flowed down internally and to suppliers, ensuring compliance with customer contract, industry, and organizational requirements. Performs verification and validation requirements have been met.
Review practices, procedures, and processes seeking avenues to improve efficiency and effectiveness and reduce risk to product quality.
Interprets customer technical and mission assurance requirements, ensuring integration to program plans, specifications, and product drawings as well as verification of implementation.
Provide oversight in discrepancy review, failure investigations, as well as cause and corrective action determinations. Leads root cause and problem-solving analyses.
Represents Mission Assurance at various review boards including Configuration Control Board (CCB), Engineering Change Board (ECR), Risk and Opportunity Management Board (ROMB), Corrective Action Board (CAB), Readiness Reviews, & Failure/Material Review Board (FRB/MRB).
Supports tracking and reporting metrics, mission-specific risk issues & develop, and present internal & external Mission Assurance briefings.
Ensure Risk Management activities (dFMEA, pFMEA) are executed and maintained according to standards and procedures.
Communicates the impacts and execution of all program, division quality, and organizational requirements to all levels of the organization. May communicate to Government and customer representatives as well as subcontracts.
Lead division level continuous improvement efforts.
Serve as a process owner for Quality Management System documentation and procedures.
Provides S&MA inputs and baseline estimations for future program proposal efforts.
Provides input and support during AS9100 audits.
Leads the S&MA team in support of mission success for large contracts and product lines.
Primary Lead for cross product line FRB / MRB.
Tech Alert / Sentinel Alert technical advisor.
Control Account Manager (CAM) for the S&MA budget on the contract.
Specialize in the areas of spacecraft design, incoming material management, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality.
Basic Qualifications: BS Degree + 12 years of experience; MS Degree + 10 years; or PhD + 7 years. 16 years in lieu of degree.
Active Top Secret/SCI clearance required at the time of application.
Experience on Space systems programs, such as payload, spacecraft bus, antenna, launch, ground systems, and/or operations and maintenance activities.
Direct program experience working with the following disciplines: Program Management Office, Global Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Systems Engineering, Integration, Test & Launch, and Parts Materials & Process.
Experience working with and managing subcontractors.
Experience working with or supporting Integration and Test.
Experience working with or supporting Validation and Verification.
Experience supporting Parts, Materials, and Processes Control Board.
Experience supporting Risk and Opportunity Management Board.
Experience working directly with customers.
Proficient at proposal and Basis of Estimate development.
Preferred Qualifications: STEM bachelor's degree.
Experience supporting Configuration Control Board.
Experience supporting Engineering Review Board.
Experience leading Failure Review Board.
Certified in lean and six-sigma quality engineering methodologies.
Experience with requirements management and the associated tools, i.e., DOORs.
Systems engineering experience on complex integrated systems.
Experience on Government contracts.
Evidence of excellent time management, presentation, and negotiation skills.
Salary Range:
Gilbert, AZ: $147,000.00 - $211,000.00; Dulles, VA: $171,000.00 - $246,000.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.
