IT Systems Engineer

Description: We are seeking a skilled IT Systems Engineer to support and maintain both virtual and physical infrastructure for our organization. This role includes a broad range of IT functions, covering on-premises and cloud-based systems. The ideal candidate must be self-directed, a fast learner, and comfortable working in a fast-paced team environment. They should be flexible enough to work on modern systems or legacy components to ensure all pieces align correctly to support a large enterprise development team. The qualified candidate should be available for 24/7 support and participate in rotating weekends on-call with the current team in Austin, TX. Job Responsibilities:

Server and Network Management: Install, configure, and troubleshoot Linux and Windows servers and workstations, including WAN/LAN networks and backup applications. Troubleshoot and resolve issues with Unix (RHEL and Ubuntu). Manage server license subscriptions and renewals for Windows and Linux. Manage physical and virtual workstations as needed. Oversee Hyper-V deployments on failover clusters. System Infrastructure Planning: Plan, forecast, and implement new hardware infrastructure, including phasing out legacy systems. Plan, test, and implement upgrades for Unix, Windows, and MySQL databases. Coordinate upgrades of desktop and server OS fix packs, including project planning and resource management. Support annual desktop and system audits. User Support and Training: Provide 24/7 support on a rotating schedule. Manage user access to tools and project resources. Maintain documentation for training, installation, and processes. Communicate issues and workarounds to users and managers. Collaboration and Documentation: Collaborate with teams to support both modern and legacy systems. Facilitate meetings for server and application upgrades. Create and manage CRQs in Remedy. Maintain project wikis and email lists. Development Tool Support: Manage binaries for IDEs and Git-related tools. Support Git development and resolve related issues. Assist with Client and UFT applications and support developer workstations. Inventory and Quality Control: Conduct inventory assessments of hardware and network devices. Implement continuous improvements to project quality and processes. Qualifications:

Experience managing virtual and physical servers, including Linux and Windows environments, network protocols, and backup solutions. Proficiency in system backups, recovery, and configuration monitoring. Self-motivated, quick learner, and adaptable to dynamic environments. Ability to support both modern and legacy systems for large enterprise teams. Familiarity with Git and development tools. Strong communication skills to explain technical concepts and troubleshoot issues. Experience with inventory management, root cause analysis, and troubleshooting software tools.
