Responsibilities include:
Serving as the single point of contact for all Energy Isolation activities on the project, with authority to halt unsafe work practices related to energy isolation.
Overseeing and ensuring compliance with the Energy Isolation Program and establishing acceptance criteria for the client's campus Energy Isolation Plan, including updates throughout the project.
Conducting regular site walks and inspections to monitor progress, review construction versus design, and ensure quality standards are met, while flagging potential concerns for engineering review.
Reviewing construction drawings, specifications, and commissioning documents for technical compliance.
Identifying project risks, managing non-conformance reports, and facilitating corrective actions.
Participating in High-Risk Activity planning meetings related to Energy Isolation.
Ensuring all energy sources are identified and documented, including post-turnover documentation.
Collaborating with construction and commissioning teams to ensure safe testing and validation of systems.
Verifying qualifications, training, and PPE requirements for personnel performing work on energized or locked-out equipment.
Coordinating with contractors to delegate qualified alternates during multi-shift energization periods.
Participating in meetings and site walks with subcontractors and clients.
Validating energy isolation processes, including Lockout/Tagout procedures, and closing gaps identified in audits.
Supporting change management and providing technical guidance.
Partnering with EHS teams to promote safety culture and compliance in mission-critical activities.
Leading incident investigations related to Energy Isolation.
Sharing best practices and implementing lessons learned to improve procedures.
Generating monthly activity and status reports on energized equipment and energy isolation programs.
Minimum Requirements:
Degree in Electrical, Industrial, Process Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
5+ years of technical engineering experience in mission-critical facilities or electrical infrastructure, or a relevant combination of education and experience.
Understanding of National Electrical Code and NFPA 70E standards.
10+ years of construction experience on complex, multi-disciplinary projects, with mission-critical focus.
Experience in controlling hazardous energy in complex infrastructure.
Qualified Worker status in accordance with NFPA 70E, OSHA, or equivalent.
Ability to lead pre-energization meetings and review LOTO plans.
Construction safety certifications such as OSHA 30 and current First Aid/CPR/AED.
Strong knowledge of electrical systems, building management systems, and construction documentation.
Effective communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
Willingness to relocate or travel to project sites as needed.
