EMI/EMC Analyst - Space Exploration Avionics Systems

to join our JETS II contract team at

NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX . If selected, you will: Report to the Electronics and Electrical Section Manager, as part of a team of 45 Electronics and Electrical Engineers. Collaborate with other EMI/EMC engineers supporting the Avionics Division on-site at NASA Johnson Space Center. Support EMI/EMC testing at both on-site and off-site test chambers for space-flight electronic hardware. Work with NASA E3 Engineers, contractors, and sub-contractors, domestically and internationally, on hardware E3 design. Develop Test Requirements, Test Plans, and Test Procedures for E3 projects. Witness E3 testing, analyze real-time data, troubleshoot, compile test data, and prepare Quick Test Reports before final reports. Provide updates to management on significant tests conducted in the EMI facility. Support design reviews, EMC analyses, Test Readiness Reviews, and witness E3 tests. Assist design engineers with circuit review, bonding, grounding, and cable design for EMC compliance. Innovate with modeling and simulation techniques for hardware design and testing. Conduct EMI assessments and evaluations in labs. Develop correlation equations for pass/fail criteria in EMI chambers. Adopt a system perspective early in projects regarding EMC/EMI, including risk analysis and design recommendations. Follow safety protocols and SOPs in laboratory environments. Perform additional duties, including multidisciplinary meetings and online collaboration with NASA and contractors. Qualifications: This role is posted at multiple levels. Candidates will be considered based on experience, requirements, and business needs. Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 2-5 years of experience, or equivalent qualifications. Experience with space, military, or commercial EMI/EMC design, testing, and mitigation. Knowledge of EMI/EMC compliance per MIL-STD-461 for system and sub-system levels. Hands-on experience with EMI/EMC lab equipment such as spectrum analyzers, RF amplifiers, signal generators, and antennas. Understanding of electronic system test hardware, including oscilloscopes, multi-meters, and power supplies. Additional Qualifications: Advanced degrees and related experience, leadership qualities, RF design knowledge, and certification are preferred. Experience with satellite or spacecraft design/testing, EMI testing setups, and analysis tools like SPICE, Matlab, and LabVIEW. Familiarity with NASA spaceflight project standards, EMI testing results analysis, and safety procedures.
