The Boiler Kiln Supervisor is responsible for the efficient operation and maintenance of the boiler and kiln systems, ensuring they meet production needs and safety standards. This role involves supervising staff, managing resources, and ensuring proper operations to achieve optimal efficiency and output. Key Responsibilities: Supervision and Training:
Oversee and train boiler and kiln operators, ensuring they understand procedures, safety protocols, and operational guidelines. Operational Management:
Monitor and adjust boiler and kiln operations to maintain optimal temperatures, pressure, and humidity levels for efficient lumber drying. Maintenance and Repair:
Coordinate and oversee maintenance and repair activities for boilers and kilns, ensuring equipment reliability and safety. Safety Compliance:
Implement and maintain safety protocols within the boiler and kiln areas, ensuring compliance with OSHA and other relevant regulations. Problem Solving:
Diagnose and resolve operational issues, equipment malfunctions, and safety hazards promptly to minimize downtime and disruption to production. Performance Monitoring:
Track and analyze boiler and kiln performance metrics, such as energy consumption, drying time, and lumber quality, to identify areas for improvement. Inventory Management:
Manage fuel and chemical inventory for the boiler and kiln systems, ensuring adequate supplies are available to support operations. Communication:
Maintain effective communication with other departments, including sawmill, maintenance, and safety, to ensure smooth and efficient operations. Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of boiler and kiln operations, maintenance activities, and safety procedures. Skills and Qualifications: Experience in boiler and kiln operation, maintenance, and supervision within a sawmill or similar industrial setting. Knowledge of boiler and kiln systems, including their operation, maintenance, and safety protocols. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to effectively supervise and train staff. Problem-solving and analytical skills to diagnose and resolve operational issues. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proficiency in using computers and relevant software for monitoring and data analysis. Ability to work safely and effectively in a fast-paced industrial environment.
