Title: Director, Software Development Engineering
Location: Austin, TX or Remote US
Jabil is seeking a Software Development Director who will directly contribute to the transformative growth within our Intelligent Infrastructure division by applying unique and innovative approaches to solving problems within a large-scale software production environment.
You and your team will be responsible for contributing to the end-to-end architecture, definition, development, and production deployment of software applications and infrastructure spanning multiple customers and manufacturing regions.
You will also be responsible for interfacing with internal engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams and our end customers to ensure your software deliverables meet the rigorous standards of Jabil’s manufacturing environments.

- Ensure the application of proper execution discipline and engineering rigor to all technical program deliverables, leading by example.
- Make key decisions regarding quality and features impacting customer experience.
- Influence individuals, teams, and executives to support program delivery within schedule, scope, and budget.
- Understand how technical decisions impact the broader business, factories, and customers, and use these insights to lead to optimized outcomes.
- Communicate complex issues clearly and simply at all organizational levels.
- Balance technical skills, experience-based judgment, and business acumen in decision-making activities.
- Develop and maintain healthy relationships with peers, team members, leadership, customers, and partners.
- Establish measurable goals to evaluate individual and team performance.
Other functional management responsibilities include:
- Supporting manufacturing test software deployed at production facilities.
- Defining and collaborating on test framework, infrastructure, and application architectures.
- Creating and maintaining a multi-year roadmap for software deliverables and technology inflections.
- Enabling development frameworks for behavioral and high-level software design specifications.
- Establishing best practices for software development and sustaining activities.
- Improving software build methodologies and environments.
Experience needed:
- Knowledge of software engineering practices across the full SDLC, including coding standards, reviews, source control, and operations.
- Experience with Agile, CI/CD, and SDLC processes.
- Hands-on expertise with DevOps pipelines and tools like Azure DevOps, Docker, and Ansible.
- Proficiency in programming/scripting languages such as Python, Ruby, BASH, Expect, C, C++, Java.
- Linux development experience and understanding of its fundamentals.
- Experience with VMware, Docker, Kubernetes, and large-scale distributed systems.
- Web UI and API experience, including REST and XML-RPC.
- Knowledge of web services integration and version control tools like Git.
- Familiarity with LLM integration and AI-Ops practices is a plus.
- Working knowledge of AWS services like Bedrock, IAM, and S3.
Education & experience requirements:
- BS in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; MS preferred.
- 10-15+ years in software development/test for enterprise products.
- At least 4 years in people management, including managing remote teams.
- Willingness to travel up to 20% domestically and internationally.
Benefits:
