RINA is currently recruiting for a North America Energy Engineering Director to join its office in Chicago, IL, Lisle, IL or Houston, TX within the Energy Engineering Project Management Division.
Compensation Data
Location: Preferred within commutable distance to our Chicago, IL, Lisle, IL or Houston, TX offices.
Salary Range: 210-250K Annually with bonus eligibility
Mission
The Engineering Project Management Director is responsible for the strategic leadership of the project management function. This role oversees large-scale Energy programs, ensures the achievement of business objectives, and aligns project delivery with the company’s long-term vision. The Director mentors senior managers and drives a culture of excellence and innovation in project management.
Key Accountabilities
Strategic Leadership:
- Define the strategic direction for the engineering project management function, ensuring alignment with corporate goals.
- Lead the development and implementation of project management frameworks, policies, and processes.
- Oversee multiple project teams through senior managers, ensuring optimal performance and consistent delivery excellence.
- Promote a high-performance culture by coaching, mentoring, and developing senior project leaders.
- Provide strategic oversight for large, complex programs and portfolios for external customers.
- Manage project risks and financials, ensuring profitability and customer satisfaction.
- Drive continuous improvement and standardization of project execution processes to optimize quality and efficiency.
- Implement tools and systems to monitor project performance, governance, and compliance with industry standards.
- Act as an executive point of contact for major customers, fostering long-term relationships and trust.
- Represent the organization at key meetings, negotiations, and external forums.
- Ensure effective resource planning and allocation across projects, balancing capacity and business priorities.
- Manage the departmental budget, identifying opportunities for cost optimization without compromising quality.
- Oversee the creation of executive reports for leadership, summarizing progress, risks, and financial outcomes.
- Define key metrics for the function and ensure they are measured and met.
Master’s Degree
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering General
Qualifications
- Minimum 12-15 years of experience in Energy project and program management within engineering or technical environments (e.g. power generation, oil and gas, electric utilities and gird modernization, TIC, etc.).
- At least 5 years of experience in a senior leadership role managing large teams and complex projects.
- Strategic thinking with a proven track record of delivering large-scale programs.
- Excellent leadership, team-building, and coaching skills.
- Strong financial acumen and budget management experience.
- Advanced stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies (Agile, Lean Six Sigma, Waterfall).
- PMP, PgMP, or similar certifications preferred.
- Additional leadership or business management certifications are a plus.
