Executive Recruiter | Finance & Accounting in San Diego

Position: International Corporate Controller

Location: Carlsbad, CA (Hybrid – 2–3 days/week in office)

Compensation: Approximately $200,000 base salary plus 20–25% bonus potential

We are seeking an accomplished and strategic International Corporate Controller to lead global accounting operations for a rapidly growing organization focused on environmental sustainability. This role offers a clear path to advancement into a Chief Accounting Officer position and provides the opportunity to work in a collaborative, purpose-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the global corporate accounting function.
  • Oversee IFRS and US GAAP financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements and regulatory filings.
  • Direct the consolidation of financial statements, MD&A, FP&A, and budgeting processes.
  • Manage the monthly close process and ensure timely production of consolidated financials.
  • Coordinate annual audits for the consolidated entity and select subsidiaries.
  • Review regional financial results and resolve intercompany issues as needed.
  • Implement a monthly close and reporting process aligned with best practices and the COSO Framework.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Development, and other teams to ensure compliance with contractual obligations (e.g., loan documents, O&M agreements, EPC contracts).
  • Ensure compliance with statutory reporting requirements across jurisdictions.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to regional accounting and finance teams.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field; CPA or equivalent credential required.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience, including public accounting and leadership roles in multinational, multicurrency, and publicly traded environments.
  • Expertise in both US GAAP and IFRS.
  • Proven experience with financial reporting and compliance for public companies.
  • Strong background in internal controls and accounting operations.
  • Experience with global entities, foreign currency transactions, and multi-currency consolidations.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction or energy accounting, including revenue recognition and cost accounting.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver accurate, timely results and manage cross-functional collaboration.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Dynamics/D365 or similar ERP systems preferred.
