Vice President Operations - Commercial Electrical Construction - Texas
We're working with a fast-growing commercial electrical contractor seeking a Vice President of Operations. This executive will lead multi-state construction operations, oversee project execution, and drive strategic growth.
Ideal candidates bring senior leadership experience in commercial electrical construction, strong operational oversight skills, and a track record of delivering large-scale projects on time and on budget.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement operational strategies that align with the company's business goals, ensuring efficient project execution and long-term growth across all regions of operation.
- Provide executive oversight on commercial electrical construction projects throughout Texas and other U.S. markets, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Lead, mentor, and develop operations managers, project managers, and field personnel to drive performance, accountability, and professional growth.
- Collaborate with the executive team to manage budgets, forecasts, and cost controls, ensuring operational profitability and efficient resource allocation.
- Continuously evaluate and improve operational processes, workflows, and safety protocols to enhance productivity and reduce risk.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, contractors, and stakeholders, ensuring customer satisfaction and repeat business across multiple markets.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal electrical codes, OSHA standards, and other industry regulations in all regions where the company operates.
- Manage relationships and performance of subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to ensure high-quality work and timely material delivery.
- Identify potential project and operational risks and implement mitigation strategies to ensure business continuity and safety.
- Deliver regular performance reports to the executive team, highlighting key metrics, project updates, and operational insights to support informed decision-making.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in commercial electrical construction, with at least 5 years in a senior operations or executive role.
- Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale, multi-state commercial construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, construction practices, project management methodologies, and industry regulations (including NEC, OSHA, and state-specific codes).
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and financial performance management in a construction environment.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage personnel across multiple locations.
- Exceptional problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients, partners, and internal teams.
- Proficiency with construction management software, scheduling tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Willingness to travel as needed to project sites across Texas and other operational regions.
