A well-established, privately owned company based in the greater Norfolk, Virginia area, is seeking a Controller to join its corporate accounting team. Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and fixed assets
  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings
  • Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP (or applicable accounting standards)
  • Lead the budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes
  • Monitor and enforce internal controls and ensure compliance with company policies and applicable regulations
  • Coordinate year-end audits and work with external auditors and tax advisors

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred)
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years in a management or controller-level role
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
  • Experience with ERP/accounting software systems (e.g., NetSuite, Sage, QuickBooks, SAP, CDK ERP, etc.)
  • Advanced Excel skills and financial modeling capabilities
