Job Description
Zachry Engineering Corporation (ZEC) is currently accepting applications for a Senior Engineer I&C to join our I&C Department in Houston, Texas. This is a great opportunity to get involved in interesting and challenging design projects in the Power Industry.
- Responsible for engineering and design tasks of the controls area of assigned projects. Plans and conducts work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, and adaptation of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. Develops new approaches to problems, receives guidance on complex issues, and obtains supervisory approval for project plans.
- Completes specific projects as a fully competent engineer, performing assignments independently with defined expected results. Responsible for following project responsibilities as defined.
- Leads the production of instrumentation engineering/design deliverables, including Instrument Index, control systems (DCS and/or PLC), and CEMS Data Sheets, as well as control design deliverables like I/O list and Process Control Narratives.
- Applies knowledge of I&C engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures within the industry.
- May supervise engineers or technicians unless a licensed PE is required. Performs studies, specifications, proposal evaluations, and estimates. Recommends controls system components for purchase.
- Directs drafting personnel in executing drawings for controls systems, reviews project documents for conformity and quality, and maintains knowledge of new techniques in controls engineering. Provides training to personnel as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited program
- Strong background in instrument and control systems
- 15+ years of instrumentation and controls engineering experience in the power industry
- Experience with distributed control systems (ABB, Emerson Ovation, Siemens T3000, MarkVIe, GE MicroNet)
- Knowledge of control systems for gas boilers and turbines
- Values ethics, professionalism, and confidentiality
- Excellent communication skills
- Proficient with MS Office, AutoCAD, CAD software, BlueBeam, Revit, NavisWorks
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and coordinate tasks independently
- Willing to travel and work in various environments
Preferred
- Licensed Professional Engineer
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Requires communication in person, via phone, email, and video. May involve lifting and moving objects. Work primarily in an office, with possible site visits involving moderate to high noise levels and construction activity.
