Role: VP of Mechanical Engineering

Join a cutting-edge aerospace manufacturer pioneering reusable launch vehicles and advanced propulsion systems for commercial and government markets. Our client specializes in high-performance rocket engines, composite structures, and precision manufacturing technologies that enable cost-effective access to space.

They are currently seeking an exceptional mechanical engineering leader to drive their hardware development and establish world-class manufacturing capabilities for next-generation aerospace systems.

What You’ll Do:

Lead comprehensive mechanical engineering functions including propulsion systems, structural design, thermal analysis, and manufacturing engineering teams
Define and execute mechanical design strategies for reusable launch vehicles, liquid rocket engines, and advanced composite structures
Establish scalable manufacturing processes from prototype development to high-rate production with automated fabrication systems and quality control protocols
Collaborate with executive team on product development roadmaps, manufacturing strategy, and technology differentiation in competitive launch markets
Drive mechanical innovation in lightweight structures, advanced materials integration, and high-performance propulsion components
Oversee integrated program management for multiple concurrent engine development programs and vehicle certification efforts
Implement structural analysis methodologies, testing protocols, and validation processes for flight-critical mechanical systems
20+ years of mechanical engineering experience with 8+ years in senior leadership roles within aerospace or defense industries
Proven track record building and scaling mechanical engineering organizations from startup through production manufacturing
Deep technical expertise in propulsion systems, structural mechanics, or aerospace manufacturing with successful hardware delivery experience
Extensive knowledge of aerospace materials, manufacturing processes, and FAA/NASA certification requirements for flight hardware
Strong background in complex project management, capital budgeting, and cross-functional team leadership in technical manufacturing environments
Experience with commercial launch vehicle development or high-performance propulsion systems highly valued
Exceptional technical communication skills with ability to interface effectively with customers, regulators, and senior executives
