American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a high acuity Progressive Care Unit (PCU) specializing in oncology, requiring flexibility in scheduling and strong PCU experience.Job Details•Position is located in a high acuity PCU within a hospital specializing in medical oncology,•Unit features 36 beds with over 24 dedicated to PCU level of care and telemetry monitoring,•Patient population includes adult oncology, orthopedic and thoracic oncology, with rare pediatric patients managed by permanent staff,•Patient diagnoses include solid tumor, orthopedic oncology, and thoracic oncology,•Nursing ratios are typically 1:4-5 for med surg/telemetry and 1:3 for PCU,•Specialized equipment includes B450 monitors (GE), bladder scanners, Alaris pumps, Stryker beds, PCA pumps, and support for continuous bladder irrigation,•Shifts available are 12-hour days, nights, or rotating day/night without a set schedule; schedule set by facility and may require working every weekend,•Floating is required to units of equal or lower acuity,Job Requirements•Active RN license (compact or OH state) in hand at time of consideration,•Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS), ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications required,•A minimum of high acuity PCU patient experience required,•Oncology experience is preferred but not required,•Previous travel nursing experience preferred,•Must be able to interpret dysrhythmias and participate on rapid response teams,•Skills in care/management of feeding tubes, ports, blood product administration, central and peripheral lines, PICC line management, starting IVs, heparin and cardiac drips, PCA, and chest tubes required,•Must have education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program,•References required: two professional, with at least one from a manager, director, or formal leader,Additional Information•Primary responsibilities include managing high acuity oncology and telemetry patients, infection prevention, patient falls prevention, and advanced clinical interventions,•Team structure includes orientation and support with first-week classroom and second-week on-unit preceptorship,•Strict adherence to Ohio fingerprinting process is required for credentialing,•Local candidates are accepted at the same rate,•First-time travelers welcome to apply,•Must provide all time-off requests with application; maximum of 7 consecutive days off allowed, with a 14-week contract required for 7 days off,•Former employees must be separated for at least 6 months to be eligible; current employees are ineligible,•Dress code requirements and further orientation details provided upon hiring,•Opportunities for professional development and flexible self-scheduling requests available,•Variable holiday and weekend requirements based on unit need
